What is Open Source?

Well indian IT people must aware of the word "Open Source". Im not a Richard Stallman to define Open Source. But i think open source is a suitable technology for India like developing countries.Open Source is an Open knowledge sharing. Why we share our knowledge with others ? Its a proper way of improve your knowledge. How?. basically human thoughts is not same for all. Everyone have some sort of skills and knowledge. If you share your knowledge with other people, they also give you some more ways to solve the problem. It causes you to change your way of thinking. So it will automatically improve your knowledge multiple. In the information technology field you can't develope urself a complete product.Becoz many ways are there to solve the problem or develope the product. Its not enough ur knowledge only. While sharing your knowledge with other people, you can find the optimal and proper solution for that particular problem.This is neccessary for our people. If Microsoft shared their source code already, they never overwhelmed these security threats. Becoz a corporate can not hire all the security experts all around the world. If they shared their source code, that security experts may solve the particular problem of that Operating system volentary. I think so....

Where i am?

Im an enthusiatic in cyber security related issues.Im a L board H4ck3r.Huhhhh.... Linux is my tools box.Using linux, im always exploring the security flows on Operating Systems.Yes, lots and lots of security analysing softwares are there at free of cost. Basically im interested in networks and protocols. So i always want to scan any host and find out the security issues behind that system. Very Very interesting. I expored some ports are open in some cases. There may be some reason behind that. Yes, some times i need to share my resources within my intranet i will use NetBios protocol to share the system resources. Basically any system connected to the internet is open for all of the world. So we have to put proper firewall to protect our system. For that purpose linux is a proper operating system. Because it has Built-in Firewall called IP Tables with its Kernel. So you are on complete protection.In windows like systems, They does not have thier own firewall. Third party softwares, does not work well with windows operating system. Because they won't give their source code to other people. So linux is a best operating system for internet.

my views on linux

Linux is a complete operating system admired by most of system admins, technical engineers even school students.Few days ago, i heard that school students in one convent at banglore interested in learning linux.Woww..Linux tux even admire the schools kids also.Wonderful. Linux get a space in young mind.So it will defenitely growing well. Once upon a time, Linux was known for research oriented operating system. Now it becomes user friendly slowly. Slowly occupies the young minds.Future scientists started to growup with linux.Nice to hear this news.Haahahaa,yes people's mentality slowly changed.A bit.Little bit. Tux will soon admire the entire people.

Instant Messaging Technology

Instant messaging is a popular technique to communicate the people all around the world. Instant Messaging otherwise called as Chatting :).Yea the chatting is technically called Instant messaging.Now all teen age people are admired and adicted by this technology.Actually, instant messaging may be derived from the unix command "Write". This command used to communicate the people who are working under one system Obviously Unix system.All are know, Unix and linux both are multiuser operating systems.So these operating systems contains some basic command mode communication commands like "write".After that Internet Relay Chat (IRC) developed and admired most of the people.So the base of instant messaging may be comes from Unix like operating systems.After that mail service providers like MSN and Yahoo are developed their own instant messaging server or Chat server.MSN or Yahoo messenger are client programs which accepts and translate the communications recived from chat server.Like outlook or outlook express they have some advanced tools to communicate the people all over the world.Based on this Yahoo and MSN messengers Gaim was developed.Gaim is a multi-protocol client which accepts all the protocols followed by the Famous Chat servers like Yahoo and MSN.Unlike yahoo and MSN messenger clients, Gaim has its own server Jabber has its own protocols and ports.Yahoo follows different protocol and MSN follows different protocols and ports.So we can't communicate the MSN people from yahoo messenger.Instead of that if you are using Gaim you can communicate all the people, but obviously you have one account from Yahoo as well as one account from MSN.Gaim just acts as a bridge, that connects two different servers from one client.Im using Gaim now, i feel the difference from yahoo and MSN Messengers.But only thing is lack of advanced tools.Yes, using MSN messenger you can share your windows operating system with your friend who resides in some other country.Yahoo has its own advantages like webcams,voice, mobile communication etc.The main reason for lack of advanced tools in gaim is, lack of support.Yes, we want to chat with yahoo people, we need yahoo messenger.We are not ready to use gaim.Gaim is a open source product.So it has in infancy stage.In future, gaim will defenitely improved by the people.I hope so.

My Experience with Magic Linux Live CD

One day, I worked with windows xp. It was important day for me. Because I had to trouble shoot my one of the client's mail server.I installed putty and worked with it. Suddently my system restarted and not booted again. I was frustrated. Suddenly one idea stoke my mind. I already have a live linux CD called Knoppix 3.6. So took that cd and booted with CD Rom. After that that miracle done.When i boot with that CD, it doesn't ask for any installation. You already know, if we try to install windows xp again it takes some 25 mins to 55 mins. But on that day, i havn't sufficient time to install windows xp. So i tried with this live CD. It went very smoothly autoconfigure all of my hardware devices and stop with GUI X windows. then i entered user name and password. Then suddenly i got GUI Desktop. I was very happy and admired. It was a miracle to me. I never heard about before like that. So i wondered and finished my work very soon. After that i lived with that CD entire day.It was a nice experience to me. Afer that im not interested to install windows again. So i install Redhat Linux 9. Now im very happy with my Linux tux box.My working hours are very interesting moments at present. I expore more on linux. :) if you want any change in your life style. You can try with linux live CD. It will give you a nice different experince to you.

Windoz XP buggy operating system

I want to share my valuable ridiculous experience with win XP. At first I wondered about the XP look and feel. After working on that I came to know its only a mask not really sophisticated. Because considering performance its too buggy. Compared to my Redhat 9 system its easy to operate but too inconvenience for performance. I think windows 98 SE only the best operating system among Microsoft's entire product. All other products are buggy. But we have to follow their marketing technology. Because at first they release beta version only with the option of bug reporting. People have to buy that product on cost and enter their problems as a report. Based on that report they improve their product and sold it for higher price. Nice approach :). Because if they want to increase the quality of their product, they should have one R&D team. Instead of using this bug reporting technique there is no need for spending much more money for R&D. They are optimize their cost using this bug report technique.

How i admired by Linux Tux?

I’m an interested guy in networking and security related issues since i was a teen. At first I was in windows based networking systems. After Exploring more about security related tutorials, I realized the truth. Of course, my tutorials are may be illegal. Because I brought up with H4ck3rs & Crackers sites only. Most popular sites are astalavista.com and securityfocus.com. I never encourage you to hack and crack. Till now im having that habit of spending 2 to 3 hours for reading materials from that sites. I found lots and lots of security flaws in windows operating system. I found Windows is easily vulnerable operating system. Because of its hidden source code I can’t secure myself against regular spreading worms and Trojan Horses. But we should know what the hell is going on inside our operating system? How many processes are running? For what purpose they are running? What is a memory consumption of that process? Any suspicious processes are running are not? We should think about that.Task manager didn't tell all of these.Unforutately i can't go for Microsoft's service packs.Because that service packs also vulnerable.Service packs are not the final solutions.these are temprary solutions to console their customers.I frustrated with windows.I searched for the proper as well as secured alternate solution for windows.I need one complete Operating System, which shows all the details to me and allow me to make changes.Finally i got my Tux.Linux is a one and only way to avoid this security threats.Im feeling Breath of freedom now and delighting with the wonderful world of linux.
