Web hosting becomes very cheaper. If we want to have website, there are two things we have to do. One is domain registration and another one is web hosting. Domain can be register from domain registrar available from our location and it will not cost you not even 200Rs. Next part is also easily available but selecting proper web hosting provider is very difficult. OK lets analyze what are all the difficulties we will face. First and foremost thing is price. It depends upon Service provider we choose and it depends upon the services they are giving. First web hosting means one space available on the internet for 24 hrs. So that others can access your websites and files without having any problem. That is called downtime. There are two types of web hosting. Depends upon the OS they are calling it as Windows web hosting and Linux web hosting. Both will be available from the provider. We need to decide which OS we need irespective of what kind of Web server language we are going to use. Websites are two major types. One is static site and another one is dynamic site. Static site will have only HTML and Flash contents, there will not be any data transfer occure. All the data are Static and manually updated by the designers. Dynamic site is using web Server languages and using some databases to retreive and present the data to the users in the convinient and efficient manner. Windows web hosting is mainly using IIS as web server and using ASP as a web server side scripting language. Linux web hosting mainly using Apache as web server and PHP as web server language. In between other webservers also available. They are Tomcat from Apache, weblogic and webspeare etc. These webservers are using JSP as web server language. It can be deployed on both Windows as well as Linux web hosting. Compare to Windows web hosting Linux webhosting is cheap. So mostly people will go for Linux web hosting. Next we will see the Server uptime and bandwidth allocated etc. Webhosting have several options and you can use them depends upon your website like if you are planning for commercial website, and if you are expecting more traffic will come to your website. Those sites are generally known as Portals. Example rediff.com. and indiatimes.com. For portals mostly required high bandwidth and uptime. So they will host them in Dedicated servers, which is costlier arround 1 Lakh per year and the total bandwidth and maintainence is ours. We will have root access and Service providers will give partial or full technical support sometimes. OK. But our website is not a portal but commercial site and we are having arround 2000 remote users. Then we can go for Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting. This is economical for sometimes. Once your website picks up more traffic you can upgrade it to Dedicated servers. VPS hosting is mostly like Dedicated server but the server bandwidth will be shared to few people like 1 or 2 maximum 5. If other sites are not using the allocated bandwidth you can borrow their bandwidth for your purpose. So its economical in some situations. Maintenence and support will be provided. Last and beginners option is Shared web hosting. Its very cheaper compare to others. Maximum 700 Rs per year. We will have some alloted space arround 15 GB to 30 GB depends upon the service provider and hosting plan. It will be shared to mail hosting and Database space. Some providers will give mail hosting free of cost. Rest will charge some bucks. So we have the wide variety of choice to select. So experience is the better way to learn. First we can go for Shared hosting for 1 year, then we will be familiar with the plans and prices.

Banking with Linux!!

Recently State Bank of India, moved all of its ATM to Linux.. Good news to hear though in all the embedded systems Linux kernel is the primary thing.. Banking industry trying to adopt Linux for its robust and security. Of course, Linux is secured compare to other OSes in this world. Maintenance cost also very economical. Linux is like hard to configure but easy to maintain. Its everywhere. Linux leads the world.. Most of the web servers running on Linux OS. Linux web hosting is cheaper than Windows web hosting.. Because of its Open Source License and support from the world wide web.

Apple iphone/ipod touch Jailbreaking tools

Jail breaking is the hacking term means unlock or open the iphone from its restrictions and service provider limitation. Basically in US Apple is having contract with AT&T and this iphone handset will work only with AT&T connection ( SIM). If you want to use other service providers like Sprint or Virgin you have to jailbreak the iphone. It depends upon the model. I mean 2G or 3G. Now Apple stopped to sell 2G iphones. Another advantage of jail breaking is you can install the 3rd party cool apps with the installer. By default iphone will not have any installer. If you want to have new apps you have to purchase from Apple store. If you jailbreak the iphone you will get one installer, that will allow you to install all the cool apps for free. What you need is WIFI connection or EDGE connection from your mobile Service provider. OK. Now lets see what are all the tools available on the net to use and which one is best among those tools. I would recommend you to use ziphone from ziphone.org. Its a coolest tool for iphone 2G jail breaking. Even it will work for ipod touch. You will get good support and updates from them. another coolest tool is winpwn and quickpwn. These tools are good but its not that much efficient compare to ziphone. Earlier ziphone has the command line script to jail break the iphone / ipod touch. Now he has developed new GUI for windows and it has the great functionality to play arround with. Only drawback is it will not work if your iphone have 2.0 firmware. it will work charm upto 1.1.4 firmware for iphone / ipod touch. We are waiting for the ziphone to come up with the solution for 2.0 and 3G.

Apple iPhone

Three months ago, i bought one Apple iPhone in US. It was 2G iphone and i could able to get the unlock tools to unlock it. Now Apple released new 3G iphone which couldnt able to unlock. The best things in iphone is it is running on Mac X OS. Its like linux. Very stable and virus free operating system and the 10MP camera. Its having high quality Pixel rates anyone can admire about the quality. The sound quality is an another best thing in iphone. If you could able to unlock this iphone, then you can have more fun with it. Its really a good experience for me to unlock the iphone and play arround with it. Now iphone came to india. But very very expensive. In US the current rate is 200$ equalant to 9000Rs. But our mobile service providers like Airtel and Vodafone are making money out of its demand. They are selling it for 31,000Rs. nearly 3.5 times high price compare to US rates. This is really cheating. Moreover even if you affortable for 31k bucks, its again you cant unlock it. You have to go with their plan and shemes. You cant install any new software appart from the standard apps from iphone. So wait till the rate to come down or atleast wait for the unlocking tools to be stable.
